A Kauffman Performing Arts Center + KC Skyline Engagement Session | Kristy & Travis
Kristy & Travis "met" online, and after several weeks of chatting they finally decided to meet in person at what would become, another fateful Starbucks location, for them, it was the Starbucks on the Plaza. Mocha's, pumpkin spice lattes and endless conversation, - it was truly the start of something big.
Is it just me, or do Starbucks every where have a way that results in love connections? Kristy & Travis "met" online, and after several weeks of chatting they finally decided to meet in person at what would become another fateful Starbucks location, for them, it was the Starbucks on the Plaza. Mocha's, pumpkin spice lattes and endless conversation, - it was truly the start of something big.
Kristy had brought reinforcements, and a game plan - 3 girlfriends to hang out nearby and watch for the signal of Kristy pulling her hair back into a pony. This would mean this guys a real creep and I need saving by way of a fake emergency phone call. The pony never went up, and 3-hours later the girlfriends gave up and left. Kristy & Travis hit it off in ways that I think surprised them both, several hours of nonstop conversation until finally a barista had to ask them to leave due to closing the shop down.
That coffee date turned into a another date down the road, then another, then another. Until finally, on Travis's birthday - HIS birthday y'all - he agreed to go to the OPERA at Kauffman Performing Arts with Kristy. If she hadn't already seen that this guy was a keeper, I'm guessing this sealed the deal.
Later on down the road it was a trip to Chicago, and a tour of the city by way of Lake Michigan. Kristy wondered if aboard that boat, a ring might pop up but she recounts the story as saying she saw no "ring box bulges" anywhere on Travis! That's because that little sneaky mcsneakerson had the ring folded into his wallet ;) So it happened - and obviously she said yes!
I met with these guys several months ago - at the Plaza Starbucks no less!! and I instantly crossed my fingers+toes that these guys would book with me. Why you wonder? Because I absolutely adore them both. K&T are my kind of people, sooo much fun to be around, so full of LIFE, and so sweet! Wedding plans are underway for these guys and their upcoming May 2016 wedding, and a big part of that means engagement photos! Us 3 + their too adorable for words doggy, Baxter, + a super helpful friend of theirs visited Kauffman Performing Arts to begin their engagement session. These two had to include that place considering the role it played in their early days as a couple! We finished up by the KC Scout with the glorious Kansas City skyline as our backdrop.
Kristy & Travis - Ugh. I adore you guys! Thank you SO SO much for choosing me as your photographer, truly you don't know how happy you made me!! I had a blast at your engagement session, and it goes without saying that I'm soooo eager for your wedding day!!

These two started out in sports-teams favorites! The KC Chiefs vs the Pittsburgh Steelers!
Then they moved into the KC Royals!! :)

A Kansas Wedding | Deer Creek Golf Club | Elizabeth & Dane
Their big day had arrived, all sunny, warm, and full of their closest friends and family.
Their big day had arrived, all sunny, warm, and full of their closest friends and family. Elizabeth's mother helped button up the back of her gorgeous dress. Then, Dane's mother and Elizabeth's mother both gave her two very precious items. Handkerchiefs, - that are over a hundred years old, and have been passed down generation to generation for the brides of the family to carry - so magical and special!
Elizabeth looked absolutely radiant from head to toe, with classy red nails to match. It was time to go see her groom who waited impatiently for her outside. These two share a very, very special bond - and the immediate joy Elizabeth so obviously felt the second she was in Dane's arms makes their bond that much more clear. Dane couldn't keep his eyes off of his lovely bride. They then stood together and read letters they had written to one another - letters, undoubtedly, that will be cherished always.
Then it was time to get married :) Outside by a pond, in warm sunlight, with endless smiles and happy tears - their I Do's were spoken. Somewhere along the way of their vows something completely unplanned but insanely well-timed happened - a hot air balloon lifted just in sight of their ceremony. Looking back at their images it looks as though this was all done on purpose, but nope - just a sheer serendipitous moment :)
We three spent some time together after their ceremony documenting those first moments of husband+wife in the most glorious light I think I saw all year along. Once again, another perfect moment set aside for such wonderful people.
Their big day ended with a oh-so-fun reception of laughter, cupcakes, good conversation, and so much more. Not to mention that Elizabeth and Dane had an entire choreographed first dance that blew everyone away - just wait until you see that!
Elizabeth & Dane - I can't thank you guys enough for giving me the honor of documenting such a special time in your lives. You know already that I simply adore you both, and couldn't be happier for you as you start this new chapter together :) Thank you both, so so much for everything!

Sunshine & Sunflowers Engagement Session | Lawrence Kansas | Malorie & Travis
Potter's Lake, a sunflower field, and two oh-so-in-love people!
Failing an anatomy class can be a good thing, as it was for Travis. His low grades got him moved to the front of the class, so he could sit with a perfect A student named Malorie. Gaining an A in anatomy quickly hit the back-burner because, well,... Malorie. He eventually dropped the class, but he kept the girl. Flash forward to the day in Antioch Park where he asked that A-student girl to be his forever, she of course said yes, and wedding planning began!
These two are getting married next July and I absolutely can't wait for their wedding day. I was already insanely eager for their engagement session, but now that that's happened, I'm focused on the wedding! Both of these guys became instant friends of mine, and spending time with them is truly like hanging out with good friends. Except of course, that I get all paparazzi on 'em. But, they don't seem to mind! No, not at all, they're actually naturals in front of a camera!
We met up on a sunny summer day in Lawrence Kansas to begin their engagement session at Kansas University's campus. And oh the light. We made our way around Potter's Lake before finishing up there with something Malorie had asked me if we could do.
Get this. Weeks before their engagement session, she emailed to ask if I thought it'd be cute for them to write letters to each other - and read them at their engagement session while I photographed it. Cue me falling out of my chair. YES??!?! I LOVED this idea, and am so glad they did this!! Not only was it sweet and perfect and sooo photographable (is that a word?) - but those letters are also something they will treasure forever! I love it!!
After a stroll around the lake and the reading of the precious letters - we made our way over to Grinter's Farm. Where,...oh yes, oh heck yes,...as if it couldn't get any better...mine and Malorie's dream came true. Photos in a sunflower field. Gah. Sure, it was crowded, but we dug far out into that epic field and these two loved and laughed surrounded by gorgeous sunflowers, while I clickclickclicked. It was perfection.
Malorie & Travis - What else can I even say!? You guys are SO great and I couldn't be happier to be your photographer! Thank you! Thank you! I can't wait for your wedding day!

Kansas City Family Photography | The J Family!
Since you last saw these two lovely people - they've welcomed the cutest baby into the world, and from inquisitive stares, to drooling giggles, to insanely precious little smiles - prepare yourself for the images of Baby Rooney!
Are you really ready for the cuteness that is coming?
I've known these two awesome people for a long time now, and I absolutely love these guys. I was the lucky photographer to capture Hollie and Saad during their pregnancy - when Hollie was simply glowing with new motherhood, and since then - these guys have welcomed one of the cutest babies I've ever seen into this old world! Baby Rooney was 6-months at the time of our session, and he pretty much owned the camera!
From inquisitive stares, to drooling giggles, to insanely precious little smiles - this little guy had me firing at a rapid pace because every expression was too priceless!
Hollie & Saad - I know there are future sessions in store and I already can't wait!! Thank you guys SO much!!

An Intimate Wedding Ceremony | Deer Creek | Hal & Lynn
After only 30 seconds of witnessing these two together, especially in that moment when Hal first saw his bride - it was a very strong reminder of the fact, - Love knows no boundaries, no limits, no restrictions. Love is love.
"We met online" - Hal said to me the day I arrived at Deer Creek for his and Lynn's intimate wedding ceremony. "Her profile picture was of her and her granddaughter, and I knew immediately I had to meet her." - I smiled, and asked why was that, he explained - "If she had that kind of picture up, it was clear that family was important to her, and family means everything to me" I couldn't help but smile.
"I asked her to coffee, and she instead suggested lunch - the rest is history."
When Hal first contacted me regarding my photographing his and Lynn's small, intimate wedding ceremony, one of the first things he said to me was "Now do understand, we're older." - I laughed, and said that was okay. I thought it was funny he would feel the need to point that out, after all - age is nothing but a number when it comes to Love. After only 30 seconds of witnessing these two together, especially in that moment when Hal first saw his bride - it was a very strong reminder of that very fact. Love knows no boundaries, no limits, no restrictions. Love is love.
Hal & Lynn - I was completely blessed to have met you both. Thank you so much for allowing me to be the one to document this special moment for you, it was truly an honor!
