Monday Musings, edition one | esessions, a wedding + more

Hey guys!! Welcome to the newest series on the ELP blog! Monday Musings was born out of the idea of sharing more behind-the-scenes in both my business life, and personal life with you fine folk! This series is one that I'll use for sharing what's been going on in the past week - hopefully each week, or at least every couple of weeks!

You'll hear what I've been up to, what I've been photographing - including some sneak peek images!! I'll also share what I'm currently excited about, what I'm loving at the moment, and what's coming up! From time to time, the Monday Musings posts will also be on a more specific topic, as well, and not just random ramblings, or "musings" hehe.

So let's dive in!!

>> I'm totally entering into my busiest pre-Fall and Fall schedule right now, and I'm feeling crazed by my schedule! Overwhelmed or not, I'm still sooo excited about all the weddings coming up, and engagement sessions and families too!! PLUS, the cooler weather inspires me so much! I can't wait for the Fall colors to start popping up!!

>> This past week I visited the infamous Grinter's Sunflower Farm out in Kansas for the fourth time, that place just simply doesn't disappoint. The crowds can be a bit tough, but can you really blame people?? It's a gorgeous sunflower field for miles!! For this visit, I photographed Miranda and Trent's engagement session and ohhhh you guysssss!! First off, I LOVE this couple, so much. So, so much. Secondly, they completely rocked their photos!! We were blessed with the most beautiful light, the sunflowers were all aglow, and M+T were like perfect models!! Here are a couple sneak peeks! And HEY - My ELP Facebook page is always, always the hub of sneak peeks, so more can totally be found there! :)

>> I also did engagement photos for another couple I adore!! Jessica and Jeff are sooo stinkin' cute, and once again - another couple who completely rocked their session! Here's a few sneaky peeks from that - and again, more can be found on my Facebook page!

>> They totally tied the knot on the 9th!! YES! Their wedding day finally arrived! And GET THIS... All week long the forecast for the 9th had said rain, rain, rain. 100% RAIN. I woke up on that day to gloomy skies and thought, awesome. It's totally going to end up raining on their wedding day, anddddddd it's an outside ceremony. BUT GUESS WHAT!? Suddenly, like a blooming miracle - the sun came out, and the forecast rain chance dropped from 100% to 50%, and then 40% and then 15%!! JUST LIKE THAT! Arielle and Jerad still got to have their beautiful ceremony outside, and we also managed to do all their portraits before the rain hit!! SO excited about that!!

>> Also, a fun little fact! A+J's wedding was my first wedding getting to use my newest lens addition! The 135mm 2.0L performed like a CHAMP! I'm so glad I added that lens to my collection!! Those sneaky peeks weren't taken with the 135, but whenever I blog about their wedding day you'll get to see images that were shot with it!

>> I had a handful of meetings last week, and this week is even busier with meetings and appointments!
>> My sweet mother-in-law and one of my best friends celebrated birthday's, yay!!
>> I FINALLY put myself out there and attended, for the first time, a type of networking event for creatives in Kansas City. Technically...it was a grand opening open house for a dear friends new business venture! Sweet friend, Kinzie Ferguson and a friend of hers opened up a space in KC called Firebrand Collective.. and wow, these two have some amazing plans for this space!!
>> Wes and I had a couple of not-so-fun-adulting mishaps.. Like, our dryer suddenly stopped producing heat. So we had to call service...only to find out the repair would cost almost as much as a new unit. SO we opted to just buy a new one. (Sidebar. Ask me how crazy it makes me that the washer and dryer are no longer a matching set!?). And then, the very next day, mid-grilling our dinner.. the gas ran out and we had to make an emergency trip to Lowe's to save our half-cooked hotdogs and brats. womp womp.

>> Coming to the blog later this week will be a super cute anniversary session, so stay tuned for that you guys!!

That's all for now! :)
