Do I know all the things? Heck no.

Do I know some stuff? Heck yes.

I always like to say that I was a wedding photographer back before being a wedding photographer was “hip”….and I mean that. Let’s be honest yet again and talk about the reality of the situation, in the past decade, wedding photography has exploded! And now, it seems like everyone (and their sister again!) is a wedding photographer.

From shooting my first wedding ever back in 2006 and having very little clue what I was doing, to shooting weddings as purely a fun hobby for a few years, to taking a 6+ year hiatus from the industry, and then finally circling back around in 2013 and the opening of ELP — and ultimately going full time in less than two years later… I feel confident in saying I’ve seen a lot, and I know some stuff.

From the small town girl who once thought shooting weddings on the side was a “fun hobby”, to the serious business-minded girl who pours all she has into her business, and has loads of fun in the process!

I’m your girl if you prefer lingo involving “this little dot” and “that thingy”. What I can offer you are lessons from my mistakes, the knowledge of what I know now vs then, steps I took to get to where I am now, workflows and systems I’ve implemented that I use daily to rock this business, why infusing your identity into your branding is important, blogging and consistency in all the things, plus so much more!

Whether you want to know how to use your camera in manual mode, understand more about shooting in natural light (and really use it to your advantage!), get a better grasp on posing, have general how-the-heck-to-run-a-successful-business type questions, or something else — I can help you with these things!

Get yourself some updated headshots to use on your website, social media, etc! This time together means we get to be creative and goofy! You can see how I operate behind the camera, and I’ll share info on settings as I go. Headshots can be added on to either of the two coaching sessions!

step 1 // your initial inquiry!

You’ve found my coaching services here on the great wide web and you are super interested in a coaching session with me! Yayyy!! First things first, you get in touch with me in order to find out all the details!

step 2 // scheduling your coaching session

Via our email conversations, we figure out that we are a great fit and it’s time to get this coaching session on our calendars! We will work together to find the perfect date and get you scheduled! Coaching sessions are available Monday-Friday from 10am-6pm. Weekend availability will be conducive to my wedding season schedule!

step 3 // the questionnaire

No more than 30 days out from your coaching session I’ll send over a questionnaire to get a gauge on where you are, where you hope to go, and what you’d love to learn more about. This ensures our time together is well structured and beneficial to you!!

step 4 // your coaching session!

The time is here! Whether we have your session in-person, or via a video call — during our time together, prepare to take lots of notes! I’m an open book and an over-sharer. You can ask me anything, and I’ll tell you all I know as well as point you toward great resources! Prepare to learn a ton!!

step 5 // the follow up's!

After our session together, I’ll follow up with you in about a week to recap what we covered. And then in about a month, I’ll follow up again to see how the things you learned are working for you and for your business! And from here on out, I’ll be a new cheerleader in your life, always cheering you on!! YOU’VE GOT THIS, FRIEND!!

what's your editing software of choice?

Definitely Lightroom! Full disclosure is that for the first few years of my business, I was editing everything in Photoshop, and holy wow the difference in time, consistency and manipulation abilities that you gain from editing RAW files in Lightroom! The only time my images visit Photoshop these days is when I need to work on removing some large distracting element type of thing!

what conferences have you attended?

The only conference I’ve attended up to this point was the one and only, Creative at Heart! I attended Round 5 in Denver, and it was without a doubt, one of the best decisions I have ever made both for my business and for myself as a person! It absolutely changed both my business, and my personal life in so many great ways well!! Highly recommend it!

what is your most favorite lens and why?

Without a doubt it’s my 50mm 1.2L!! That lens is on my camera the most. I started out back in the day with the 50mm 1.8 and it served me well, but that 1.2 is absolute butter. I love that lens best because I feel like it is the most versatile, produces amazing image quality in both tack sharpness and creamy bokeh, is quick as lighting, and offers what is in my opinion, the most natural focal length to the human eye!

what are your favorite apps?

Oh that’s an easy one, Instagram is my number one fave!! I think that platform is huge in showcasing work, behind the scenes, connecting with clients — both existing and potential ones, and so much more! Beyond that, I’m a huge devoted fan to Evernote, and Trello! do you use a camera strap?

I do! I’ve done this both ways, with one and without, and I keep coming back to the fact that sometimes, my hands need a break!
