All the Ugly and Wonderful Things // book review

I was hooked on this book, this story, these characters basically from the very beginning pages. Some have said this book was a bit controversial, and if you’ve read it, or know the story line — we can both see how some would feel that way…. and admittedly, as things started to unfold, I was like whoa whoa whoa wait a dang second here.

Then came the feelings of gosh what is wrong with me, why do I love what is happening…how could I possibly be okay with this!!?? You just gotta trust me, while this book may not be for everyone, at the core of it, is a story about acceptance, about love, and about not judging others by the choices they make that are best for them. Let me repeat that — choices they make that are best for them. That one can be a tough pill to swallow cause most everyone in this world tends to think they know “what’s best” for someone else, when in reality, that isn’t always the case.

The deeper I got into this story, the realization of not everything is black and white became alarmingly clear.

You’re likely going to feel conflicted while reading this story, I definitely did, but ultimately I was rooting for Wavy (our main character) as if I knew her in real life — and no matter what her choices were or how she felt or what she felt didn’t matter. Same goes for our other big character, Kellen.

When this book ended I immediately felt like I had just gotten broken up with, — that awful heart-break feeling of emptiness lol, I’m completely serious, this book emotionally wrecked me and drained me. Undoubtedly though, this is a story I’d read again, and I don’t say that very often at all about any book!

Hiiiiighly recommend —
