Late Summer Sunshine Engagement Session // Angel + Kyle
Besides a resounding “YES!” - what’s the best thing a girl can say to a guy after just getting engaged?? Angel said it to Kyle!
Chateau Avalon…. one of Kansas City’s finest, most romantic, and uber fancy hotels was the spot in which Kyle made reservations for these two to stay at. It was that alone that sent a question through Angel’s mind - is he up to something? It just so happened that the night of their stay was also a game day for KU, and in Angel and Kyle’s household, a KU game is a very, very important thing.
These two decided on drinks in the hotel bar and a good little spot to watch said KU game, so that was where they were, cheering on their team, enjoying drinks and each other’s company.
At halftime, Kyle suggested that they take that time to go put their bags up in their room. Seemed like a good idea, so off they went. Kyle entered the room first and to Angel’s confusion - and admittedly, her irritation, he refused to turn on the lights. Angel says as she stood in the dark doorway of their room, tripping over luggage and asking repeatedly why he wouldn’t turn on the dang lights - Kyle, unknowingly to Angel, was taking that chance to ensure the room was just how it was supposed to be.
How was it supposed to be you wonder? Well, when Kyle finally flipped on the light, Angel figured it all out. Rose petals everywhere, and a whole bunch of them spelling out the words “Will You Marry Me?”
Angel says from there, these two laughed together, Kyle fumbled his wording (can you blame him!?) and even dropped the ring for a quick minute - all things that she says are so so so reflective of who they are, and quite honestly, so perfect to their story.
Obviously Angel said yes of course, and then Kyle asked what she might want to do then - I mean, they had just gotten engaged after all. It was in THIS moment that I feel like Kyle got a hugeeeee reminder that he had just made a fantastic decision by asking his perfect girl to marry him because Angel’s answer….believe it or not, was, “Let’s go finish watching the game!”
It’s crazy clear, crystal even, that these two right here are absolutely perfect for one another, and I am SO happy for them, and sooo excited to document their journey and their first day as husband and wife!!
A Summer Engagement Session at Loose Park, KC // Yuki + Anton
…and when she reopened her eyes, she found them standing in the middle of a big heart drawn in the sand, and the love of her life on one knee
On a beach in Florida they were walking hand in hand, when Anton suddenly stopped, and asked Yuki to close her eyes. She obliged, wondering what he might be up to...
With her unable to see, Anton quickly drew a huge heart in the sand around them, so that when he asked Yuki to reopen her eyes, she found them now standing in the middle of this big heart on the beach... and it was in that moment - and in that big sandy heart - that Anton dropped to one knee and asked her to be his forever.
These two couldn't possibly be more cute together, couldn't possibly be more happy with one another, and I couldn't possibly be more excited to know them and to document their love story!! Their wedding day is coming up oh so soon!!
A KC Love Story and a Purely Kansas City Engagement Session // Alexandria + Mike
When he asked if he could see her again, - "Maybe next week" were his words, while her words were - "For you I'm free tomorrow."
Two teachers from the same school district meet by chance at a Relay for Life planning meeting. Picture it, their paths cross, unsuspecting souls just going about their days - both feel that electric surge in a quick instant. What do I do, do I say hi, do I introduce myself, do I just pretend I don't feel what I just felt.
From that moment at that meeting, it took Mike 5 months from then to work up the nerve to ask Alexandria out for coffee. But he did, he did it, and she said yes.
That coffee outing together was spent somewhere around an 80/20 margin - 20% talk about their careers, while the other 80% was talk of everything else. To say they hit it off would be a major understatement. When Mike asked if he could see her again - with less nervousness no doubt - "Maybe next week" were his words, while Alexandria's words were quick, confident, and simply - "For you I'm free tomorrow."
Dates after dates led these two down a quick path of realization - hey, you're who I've been searching for - and before long they were talking about marriage. A little stroll not too long ago through one of the very parks we did part of their engagement session in took these two from dating to engaged when Mike, a ring in pocket and a hand in hers, casually asked Alexandria what her "dream proposal" might look like and then swiftly dropped to one knee.
These two share something SO DANG CLEAR AND AMAZING and photographing them is an absolute joy. I cannot even wait for their wedding day!!!
Early Spring Engagement Session at Loose Park > Jessica + Rachel
It wasn't until college that they both realized this was really it, for real, let's talk it out, let's tell our family and friends, and let's do this thing....cause you are who I want for always.
They met in high school and became high school sweethearts pretty quickly. It wasn't until college though, that they both realized that this was really it, for real, let's talk it out, let's tell our family and friends, and let's do this thing....cause you are who I want for always.
Years later, everyone was gathered for Jessica's sisters wedding, and everyone, minus Rachel, was in on a little something. When it came time for the bouquet toss, it wasn't tossed, no, Jessica's sister just turned around, walked over to Rachel, and handed the bouquet to her directly. Confusion set in. Her heart started pounding when the realization that something was up set in.
And then, here came Jessica - all smiles, ring in hand, set on a mission to ask Rachel to marry her.
And now, they'll tie the knot...they'll get married, they'll say I DO, and they'll live their lives together side by side, for always!
Loose Park, Kansas City > Engagement Session | Jessica + Isaac
What began on Match.com, led to coffees in Kansas City - now leads to this, and an upcoming wedding in a little stone chapel ;)
They agreed to meet for coffee. Classic Cup Cafe was the fateful spot. And over those warm coffees, some serious warm fuzzies developed. Jessica and Isaac found each other through Match.com, and after weeks of talking online - they found even more to talk about in person. All that talking led them down that joyful and exciting path of falling in love, you guys! ;)
Years later, the spot where they shared the first of many coffees together seemed the perfect location for Isaac to take Jessica again - except this time, there was a ring in his pocket.
Jessica has this adorable nose crinkle when she laughs, or when Isaac nuzzles her cheek. He loves that about her. She says "yesh" instead of "yeah", and Isaac simply eats it up. They giggled their way through their engagement session at Loose Park in Kansas City, being about as adorable as you can possibly imagine. Having little conversations, just the two of them, about anything and everything (including, "Do we have any Coke at home?") as if I or anyone else in the park simply didn't exist. These two have something incredibly special, and it was wonderful to witness!
In October, they'll be in front of their friends + family, in a little stone chapel out in Kansas vowing to love each other from now until forever, and I really can't wait for their special day. It's so evident that these two lovebirds are going to go through life as the best of friends.
J+I - I'm so stinkin' happy to be the lucky photographer behind the camera during this special time in your lives!!
