Loose Park Engagement Session | Brittany & Clay

These two have something special together, and it's so great to see. They are that type of couple that when they are together, it's just them, just the two of them, no matter how crowded the room may be.

Both Brittany and Clay moved to the Kansas City area within weeks of each other. Clay moved and took a position as a trainer in a Crossfit gym. And when Brittany moved, she started looking to join a new gym. As fate would have it - she walked right into Clay's gym. And on night one, Clay saw her and knew - not only did he need to talk to her immediately - he also had to lock this girl down asap. Clay simply couldn't let a sweet and gorgeous girl like Brittany walk into a public gym - full of other guys! - and let her get approached by someone else first.

He completely stole her heart, and years later he asked her to marry him. These guys are getting married this August, and I absolutely can't wait for their big day. They have something special together, and it's so great to see. They are that type of couple that when they are together, it's just them, just the two of them, no matter how crowded the room may be.

We did their engagement session at Loose Park on a very colorful and windy Spring day - for once, the wind worked in my favor! I'm so excited to share some of my favorites from their session!

Brittany & Clay - You guys are awesome. All those high-fives during your session were great! You guys made it even more fun! :) Thank you for choosing me to document this journey, I can't wait for your wedding day!

Visitation Church Wedding, Dan Meiners Reception | Katherine & Joe

What began on a fateful day in a Chipotle... came to this point. A beautiful Catholic wedding of an even more beautiful couple.

Katherine met Joe years ago - before their story really began. Joe worked with Katherine's Mom, so she knew who this Joe fellow was. Their true story though, began years later, in a Chipotle.

On this fateful day, Katherine had actually had a really bad day, and she slipped into a Chipotle because honestly, after a day as bad as hers, only a burrito can save you. As soon as Katherine walked inside, she realized that Joe fellow who worked with her mom had come in the door behind her. Her efforts of ignoring him began immediately...don't turn around, look straight ahead, adjust your hair on the sides of your face to try and hide. Poor Katherine was simply in no mood to speak to anyone, really. However, Joe wasn't about to let this opportunity pass him by! Just as Katherine neared the register thinking to herself - success! I did it! He doesn't know it's me!!....She felt a tap on her shoulder, and turning to see that charming smile, the words out of Joe's mouth were - "Were you really going to ignore me the entire time?"

Years later, on Katherine's 29th birthday - the birthday in which Katherine had asked Joe for a puppy - Joe had a different plan. After having acted "weird" all morning, Joe made sure all the guests arrived just in time and then he suddenly took Katherine by the hand. She thought to herself, "This is weird. Just give me my puppy." - But no... Joe led Katherine to a specific spot in their living room, so that the hidden camera he had set up could record it all - and right there in front of friends and family... Joe went to one knee.

Katherine and Joe's wedding was hands down, one of the most moving love stories I've ever witnessed. Joe really adores Katherine. And Katherine simply can't stop smiling when Joe is in the room. They spoke their vows, and made their promises in a traditional Catholic ceremony at Visitation Parish. And it was gorgeous. Their warm and fun celebration reception was held at Dan Meiners. During toasts, Katherine's Mom, Marianne, mentioned that fateful day she got the phone call from Katherine - telling her that she had run into Joe, and he had asked for her number. Marianne, while a little shocked - had an instant feeling of peace. She knew Joe well, and she knew above all that Katherine and Joe would be great together. He would love her deeply, hold her in the highest regard, protect her always, and keep her smiling every single day. And after following these guys along their journey - I can now attest to the pure unadulterated truth of every one of those things. These guys have something, really, really special.

Katherine & Joe, aka: Kitty & Joe Joe - Saying congratulations doesn't seem big enough. You two are perfect for each other and documenting your love story was a true honor. Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey! Your kindness knows no limits, nor does your love for each other. Wishing you guys what I know will be a long and happy marriage!

Black on Burlington, Kansas City Wedding | Jaclyn & Trevor

The huge and genuinely perfect smile on Trevor's face as he and his new wife exited their ceremony said it all....She was his. He was hers. And life was perfect.

What started as a chance meeting at a wiffle ball tournament came to this. On a cozy Saturday in April, in this space, among their closest family and friends - Jaclyn and Trevor stood together, hand in hand and vowed their love and lives together. And let me tell ya folks, it was wonderful to witness.

When I first met these two last year, I couldn't believe my luck. They both are so kind-hearted, so thoughtful, and equally so much fun to be around! Their baseball themed engagement session was one I'll remember always!

Their wedding day turned out to be another day I'll always remember - from their wonderful families, to their happy faces, to the overall atmosphere that surrounded the day. It was perfect.

I had been told time and again that Trevor wasn't much on smiling for photos, and while he definitely made me work hard at times for a peek of those pearly whites...the huge and genuinely perfect smile on Trevor's face as he and his new wife exited their ceremony said it all - no work on my part needed....She was his. He was hers. And life was perfect.

Kauffman Memorial Garden Celebration Session | Beth & Evan

Beth & Evan are expecting their first baby boy next month - he'll be here oh so soon! Without a doubt, these two are going to be rockstar parents!

I've known Beth & Evan for a couple of years now, and they're that type of couple that you hope to meet and hang out with. You know the ones, super friendly, up for anything, full of good humor. These two are expecting their first baby boy next month - he'll be here oh so soon! Without a doubt, Beth & Evan are going to be rockstar parents! When they asked me about a celebration session during this exciting time in their lives, I was pumped!

While their upcoming new addition will be their first human baby.....They certainly haven't been without a different baby for the past few years. This is the part where I get a high-pitched voice because I really, really love doggies - and these guys just so happen to have one of the most awesome dogs I've ever met! Just wait until you see Oscar! He's going to be a great big brother!

We visited the insanely crowded Kauffman Memorial Garden for the first half of their celebration session - and I just have to point out how awesome they handled that crowd! At least 10 other photographers, multiple families, and about 35 prom goers. Good times. We finished up in a fun and eclectic area of Westport!

Beth & Evan - Thank you guys for a super fun evening, despite the crowd! Thank you for bringing Oscar along, I'm so glad I got to meet him! Wishing you guys all the best as you round out the final month of your pregnancy, and welcome a new baby into your lives!!

Watkins Mill Engagement Session | Codie & Brandon

Watching Codie & Brandon together and documenting their loving looks towards one another was such a treat. It makes my heart so happy to see two people so in love - especially when I know one of them personally!

When I first moved to Missouri from North Carolina - Codie was one of the first people I met, one of the first friends I made. And thank goodness for that because she just so happens to be one of the warmest, friendliest people on the face of the planet!

Knowing Codie like I do, and knowing there's this guy who's swept her off her feet, it brings me so much joy. I was so excited to meet Brandon, and let me tell ya - he really adores her. Watching them together and documenting their loving looks towards one another was such a treat. It makes my heart so happy to see two people so in love - especially when I know one of them personally! These two rocked their engagement session at Watkins Mill - one of my favorite places around!

Codie & Brandon - I couldn't be happier that you two met and something so beautiful came about. Wishing you guys a perfect wedding in St. Lucia, and a lifetime of happiness. Thank you for giving me the privilege of taking your engagement photos, I hope you love them as much as I do!
