Apparently it’s national love your pet day and I’m over here like 😐😐😐. One of three pictured here, little Phillip himself. The most loving, the most destructive... kid loves hard, plays hard, naps hard, and destroys things... hard. He drives me absolutely crazy one second with his shenanigans and the next minute he’s laying half on my desk, half on my arm, staring lovingly at me until I make eye contact. Once I make eye contact, he jumps up for endless head butting, purring, and drooling. Yep, he’s of the drooling sort. His ways of cuddling are unmatched. He the biggest snuggle bug of all our babies. ⠀
⠀
Today he ripped a hole in the bottom of my office settee seat, big enough for his dumb butt to climb through and then he proceeded to lay in the thin material that covers the bottom of said seat. Like a dang hammock!!⠀
⠀
Yesterday I found him on the kitchen counter proudly surrounded by piles of shredded napkins.⠀
⠀
He plays with his own poop. I kid you not. ⠀
⠀
If toilet paper is left on the dispenser...as in you know, where it goes! He will find it, and he will sit and pull it all off the cardboard roll. Just you wait. ⠀
⠀
He climbs all the window screens of all the windows in the entire house. ⠀
⠀
If there’s a sticker on anything in this whole house, Phillip will find it and Phillip will try to eat it. ⠀
⠀
Yep, I love him alright, and the other less destructive two also 🖤
Oh hey. It's me. Guess what? It's snowing again.⠀
⠀
For this Friday's version of #fridayintroductions, let's talk S-N-O-W, shall we??⠀
⠀
- Growing up in a small foothill town in North Carolina, we used to get a lotttt of snow. I have these awesome old photos of me wearing red pants, a pink jacket, and a red beanie (idk why my mother chose this outfit), and I'm a tiny little squirt that you can barely see among the multiple feet of snow. Yep - multiple feet! ⠀
⠀
- BTW...in NC, we don't call them "beanies"...we actually call 'em "toboggans".. I moved here and everybody's like "uhhh you wear a sled on your head?" ⠀Pffft. Mid-westerners.⠀
⠀
- That last one isn't exactly snow related, but I had to throw it in there. ⠀
⠀
- The older I got, the less snow we would get out in my neck of the woods. I mainly remember two big ones, and only because by the time they happened, I was driving. And I thought yeah, I'm gonna crash and die in my beloved little red Honda Civic.⠀
⠀
- Clearly I survived, but driving in those snow storms taught me exactly what it means to "white knuckle it"⠀
⠀
- Thennnn came 2008 when I moved to KC and learned what snow really means. These people don't mess around. That first winter here was a rude awakening. The second winter here, I couldn't find my beloved little red Honda Civic in the parking lot of my apartment complex.⠀
⠀
- Flash forward to just shy of 10 years since I moved to this great state and I feel like I've gotten fairly accustomed to the snow. Not the cold though. Not even. You never adapt to that I'm fairly certain.⠀
⠀
- I've learned that in comparison to NC.... Missouri and MODOT does a fantastic job taking care of the roads - it's impressive for this small town girl.⠀
⠀
- I've also learned that since I now drive an AWD SUV, I'm probably better at driving in snow. I also learned that because of that, I get more aggressive, which probably isn't the smartest.⠀
⠀
- Lastly comes the great fact that being my own boss and working from home means that when it snows, I get to make that oh so delicious decision of.....I'm not even opening my front door day. Which A-O, is my decision today :)⠀
⠀
--- Now, you tell me how you feel about snow! --
Happy Valentine’s Day, lovelies 💕
Create a bridal guide they said....it'll be great they said..⠀
⠀
Truthfully, it IS great. I love having something SO valuable and helpful to gift my new brides with - 76 pages (soon to be 87 pages 😱) of pure, honest insight and advice, helpful hints, tips + tricks etc, all in an effort to not only help my sweet brides plan their biggest day, but also to help them have the best photography experience possible!⠀
⠀
(run on sentences, anyone?)
.
I first introduced this sucker into my workflow and gift giving back in the summer of 2017 and during off-season of 2018, I updated it. Now here I sit, off season of 2019 updating it again, so really it's only the second time....but HOLY WOW does it ever take a century. Or so that's how it feels. And of course even though I've read every page 10 times already the year before, I still have to read every page 10 more times again CAUSE THAT'S HOW I DO THINGS 🤘🏻
⠀
⠀
I’m just gonna leave this here to remind me of the days spent exploring beautiful Charleston, this creeping fig growing everywhere, and nothing but warmmmm sunshine.⠀
⠀
My house might not be covered in this stuff (but a girl can dream) and it might not be all warm + sunny like that here in KC today butttttt it IS Monday (my fave) and it is raining 😍, it’s a non hair wash day, I’m in yoga pants, my favorite sweater is on, a new crackle candle is lit, and I don’t have to go anywhere today. SO THERE’S ALL THAT! 😬
Hey y’all. It is I - the southerner happily rooted in the great Midwest. The city loving small town hearted girl. Daydreamer extraordinaire, cat obsessed, donut loving, natural light wedding photographer. There are several new people around here lately so it’s time for another edition of #fridayintroductions 🤸🏼‍♀️⠀
⠀
I really really like random info, random questions, random facts, random lists etc. So sit back and enjoy the following random list of random facts!⠀
⠀
I’m busy rewriting some copy for my huge website refresh and something just keeps coming to mind — working with me means never having to worry about where to put your hands! My couples just get to touch each other a lot 😏 ⠀
⠀
I get irrationally attached to fictional characters and finishing books can be hard for me. I just recently finished All The Ugly And Wonderful Things and basically, I can’t even talk about it and you shouldn’t mention the names “Kellen” or “Wavy” to me. 💔⠀
⠀
I don’t talk too often about my donut obsession but it’s a diagnosable problem. 🍩 ⠀
⠀
I have 3 orange tabby cats (they are my CHILDREN) who I love to a ridiculous amount and I don’t even care. You’ll see em on my stories, no doubt!! Their names are Dublin, Phillip, and Fiona 😻⠀
⠀
I’ve been shooting weddings since before being a wedding photographer was “the thing”. Working for small town photographers, shooting as a hobby, working for others again, taking a huge break from this industry (like, 5 years!) and finally circling back around, 2013 and the opening of #elizabethladeanphotography 📷⠀
⠀
This “job” fills my cup in more ways than I’m capable of explaining and I love every second of it! 💕⠀
⠀
If you’re new around here, please introduce yourself below!! 👇🏻⠀
